  1. Like their parliamentary cousins, the Walsall Tory administration is set to savage the borough's leisure services. First up is Willenhall Leisure Centre. They claim that 'there is an excess of water provision' in the borough (which in English translates as permanently closing swimming pools). They refer to losses; we prefer to refer to the cost of providing a service. pools and leisure centres have never made a profit....anywhere! What they do achieve is to provide safe water facilities. In case anyone forgets, it was Mike Bird (in his first incarnation as borough boss) that personally signed for the bulldozers to wipe the Reedswood Open Air Lido of the map. Sounds familiar? Now he's back for more.Never mind kids; you can always go back to our toxic canals on a warm day!!!

And then there is Bryntysilio! Another quote from our Ludite Tories. 'It's past it's sell-by
date'. What they really mean is that there is no room in their agenda for a centre of excellence, providing outward-bound type facilities for Walsall children. They claim that it is under-used. Try to get a booking? You'll be lucky. You see it's the language again. Replace the cost of providing a service, and call it a loss and it becomes a sin in their eyes. Perhaps they will reclassify Butler's Passage as an amenity and measure the footfall entering it? never mind people haven't got much choice not to use it!!!! We've read it all before....1984!!!!!
